Jet and engine manufacturer, Quebec, Canada
Industry: Aerospace
Application: Jet engines / parts
Location: Quebec, Canada
Problem
An aerospace sub-contractor was having issues in acquiring exotic materials used in engine components made for a primary contractor. They use nickel 718 and 625, aluminum 6061, 2024 and 7075, and stainless 321 and 347 for their products. Only a small number of vendors are approved to complete the rigorous testing required by the primary contractor, so a decent amount of their material was coming from a raw material supplier who could provide the test results. In working with the supplier, the customer started seeing inconsistent deliveries, causing their lead times to start growing. This was in addition to irregular pricing, which started to make quoting difficult.
Solution
This customer started looking into other options to provide all materials. Castle Metals was selected in part to its already-approved testing status with the primary contractor. Castle also worked with the customer to develop a supply program in order to regulate pricing, delivery schedules and inventory arrivals.
Result
Since partnering with Castle Metals’, this customer has become accustomed to regular pricing and a consistent supply of materials. They no longer face delays in production due to a lack of stock, and they can better allocate resources and materials to complete scheduled projects. When the right materials arrive on time, the customer can continue production without interruption or added costs.
