C1026 |
![]() C1026DescriptionCarbon C1026 in tubeSPECIFICATIONS: GRADE CARBON C1026, UNS G10260Castle Metals distributes a wide range of carbon C1026 tubing as cold drawn, hot finished or DOM from our distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Shanghai, Singapore, France, and the U.K. When customers confer with us on C1026 tubing, sometimes they share their challenges improving their inventory accuracy. Depending on what we hear, Castle Metals might suggest we look at custom bar codes. This is but one solution we could use to simplify the receiving process, but we don't really know for sure until we go a layer deeper to understand your situation. Carbon C1026 is a general purpose grade for tubular products. CDSM allows selection of rough tube size that best suits an application or finished part by minimizing clean-up and machining time. Cold drawing produces higher physical properties without heat treating. HFS is available in larger diameters and heavier walls than cold drawn seamless. Hot finished is subject to surface imperfections and wider tolerances over CDS. DOM is cold drawn through a die and over a mandrel resulting in improved surface finish, excellent concentricity and dimensional accuracy. PropertiesGrade C1026 Properties

Should we decide it makes sense, Castle can leverage its supply network to allow our customers to achieve their plans. Carbon 1045 is a higher strength alternative to 1018, as a result of the higher carbon content. It is the most popular medium carbon steel. It is very popular for shafts and gears. It has moderate ductility and weldability. PropertiesGrade 1045 Properties (typical for .75"-1.25" Rd.)

When our phone rings with 1117 inquiries, many customers also tell us they are challenged by supply chain complexity. Where it makes sense, Castle Metals can simplify our customers' inbound network and reduce our customers' total cost of ownership. Carbon 1117 is a resulphurized steel offering higher strength and better machinability than 1018. It is good for applications requiring carburization. It shows good case hardening properties due to increased Manganese. It has good ductility and cold forming. Carbon 11L17 is a leaded and resulphurized steel. The lead addition augments the effect of the sulphur, reducing friction and permitting increased machine speed and better finish. The lead addition also promotes chip breakage causing better surface finish and longer tool life. PropertiesGrade 1117 Properties (typical for .75"-1.25" Rd.)

1144
Description
Carbon 1144 in bar
SPECIFICATIONS: GRADE CARBON 1144, AISI 1144, UNS G11440
Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Carbon 1144 bar. In addition to the U.S. and Canada, we warehouse inventory in Mexico, U.K, France, Singapore, and Shanghai. Customers calling us for 1144 a lot of times are struggling with production issues. So they also ask if Castle can process and make semi-finished parts. Anything that assists our customers in focusing on their core business is usually something that Castle Metals wants to with you on.
Carbon 1144 is a medium carbon, resulphurized steel with free-machining qualities. It contains higher carbon than 1141 or 1045 resulting in better heat treatability. Its high sulfur content results in good machinability while its Carbon and Manganese content cause good mechanical properties on cold drawing. With heavy draft cold drawing followed by stress relieving, even higher mechanical properties can be achieved with ASTM A311B, LaSalle's Stressproof® and Fatigue-Proof®. Carbon 1144 is perfect for applications requiring considerable machining at higher strength levels.

Carbon 12L14 in bar
SPECIFICATIONS: GRADE CARBON 12L14, AISI 12L14, UNS G12144
Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Carbon 12L14 in bar, both round and hexagon. Our distribution network includes warehouses in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, France, Singapore, and Shanghai. When customers call us about 12L14, a lot of times they say they are pressured to take costs out of their process. When we hear these sorts of things, sometimes it makes sense to talk about EDI (electronic data interchange) to reduce the costs that the transactions generate.
Carbon 12L14 is the most widely used leaded, rephosphorized and resulfurized screw machine grade carbon steel. 12L14 is utilized best for parts where significant machining is necessary. ProCut® 12L14 has controlled chemistry for enhanced machinability. ProCut® 12L14 has high ductility making it easy for bending or riveting.
Grade 12L14 with Te or Se uses the addition of Tellurium or Selenium to 12L14 to produce further improvements in machining performance. These trace elements promote the formation of desirable globular sulfide inclusions, increasing chip breakage and further improving machinability.

Carbon A36 in Plate
SPECIFICATIONS: ASTM A 36/ A6 /A709 ASME SA36 / SA6
Castle Metals stocks A36 plate throughout our global distribution and processing network. Our service centers are located throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K., France, Singapore, and Shanghai. Customers calling us for A36 plate a lot of times are struggling with production issues. So they ask if Castle can process parts to their specifications. Most of the time, the answer is ¿yes¿, which allows customers to focus on their core business processes.
One of the most popular and widely used steel plates, A36 (ASTM A36, ASME SA36) is a versatile carbon steel with excellent forming and welding characteristics. If A36 plate is carburized first it can be case or flame hardened. Because carbon A36 plate contains low carbon and alloy, it is a stronger and tougher steel ideal for general purpose structures in construction, mining, and agricultural industries.

A572
Description
Carbon A572 in Plate
SPECIFICATIONS:
Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Carbon A572 plate distributed globally from our distribution centers in North America, as well as in the U.K, France, Singapore, and Shanghai. When customers call us for Carbon A572, sometimes they also share how they struggle with price volatility. A lot of times, Castle has options to take significant risk out of our customers' metal fabrication process which we custom design based on our customers' priorities.
Carbon A572 (ASTM A572) is a low alloy, high strength steel, popular for its strength. With a better strength to weight ratio, A572 steel is a natural step up from A36 when more strength is needed. The increased strength of A572 plate does not compromise the steels ductility and weldability. A572 plate can therefore be formed, welded, and machined.

A588
Description
Carbon A588 Plate
SPECIFICATIONS:
Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Carbon A588 plate. Our distribution network includes warehouses in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, France, Singapore, and Shanghai. When customers call us about Carbon A588, a lot of times we also hear about pressures supporting a lean process or a cellular production system. When we hear these sorts of things, sometimes it makes sense to talk about Kanban or kitting as ways to simplify your work on the production floor.
Carbon A588 is a high strength, low-alloy (HSLA) formable steel ideal for machining and welding. The addition of copper to A588 plate allows this material to withstand atmospheric corrosion four times greater than general purpose plate while providing the strength and strength-to-weight properties comparable to A572 steel. So A588 plate is commonly used for products that are exposed to weather.
