![]() 4140DescriptionAlloy 4140 in plateSPECIFICATIONS:Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Alloy 4140 plate distributed globally from our distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, Singapore, and Shanghai. When our phone rings with 4140 plate inquiries, many customers also tell us they are overwhelmed with supply chain complexity. Where it makes sense, Castle Metals can simplify our customers' inbound network and reduce our customers' total cost of ownership. Alloy 4140 (AISI 4140) is one of the most popular direct hardening Cr-Mo alloy steel plates that have the ability to develop an extensive range of hardness and strength. Alloying elements and thermal treatments, such as quenching and tempering, greatly influence the hardness and strength of the steel. Alloy 4140 plate is widely used for general purpose industrial machining. Welding and forming of this steel plate should be avoided. It is best utilized wherever high resistance to fatigue and or impact is necessary.

Description
Alloy 4140 in bar, plate, and tube
SPECIFICATIONS: GRADE ALLOY 4140, AISI 4140, UNS G41400
Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Alloy 4140 in bar distributed globally from our distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, Singapore, and Shanghai. Customers calling for 4140 a lot of times are upset about dealing with fluctuations in their build schedules. Sometimes, we find that custom stocking programs help our customers react faster to changes.
Alloy 4140 is a direct hardening alloy that can be quenched and tempered to obtain a wide range of hardness, ductility and strength levels. These results are influenced by both the thermal treatment applied and the alloying elements present.
The Purecut® series offers our customers the opportunity to improve machinability with the addition of Bismuth. Bismuth steels will machine equal to leaded steels without any of the environmental problems.
E4140 Aircraft Quality is a chrome-moly alloy produced in Electric Furnaces and Vacuum Degassed. When quenched and tempered, it is a relatively deep hardening steel.
This strong alloy is used for its good hardness penetration and hardness uniformity. Its high machinability and ability to maintain its properties at high temperatures make this alloy useful in many industries.

Description
Alloy 4150 in bar
SPECIFICATIONS: GRADE ALLOY 4150, AISI 4150, UNS G41500
Castle Metals stocks Alloy 4150 in rounds, squares and flats throughout our distribution network, which spans the United States, Mexico, Canada, France, U.K, Singapore, and Shanghai. When customers call us about 4150, sometimes we also hear about their struggles achieving specific material properties. When Castle hears this, delivering custom material properties by thermal or mechanical treatment can be a solution we discuss with you.
Alloy 4150 is a direct hardening alloy which allows flame and induction hardening. Direct Hardening alloys can be quenched and tempered to obtain a wide range of hardness, ductility, and strength levels while also being able to resist stress. Alloy 4150 develops good hardness and uniform strength while also being easy to machine.
The Telcut 50® Alloy is the same as Alloy 4150 but with a double machining additive. It is used for heavily machined applications like screw machine parts and has a machinability rating of 100%. Lower cycle times, less tool wear, better surface finish, and improved productivity are achieved with no sacrifice in mechanical properties or heat treat response.
This strong alloy is used for its good hardness penetration and hardness uniformity. Its high machinability and ability to maintain its properties at high temperatures make this alloy useful in many industries.

A514
Description
Alloy A514 Plate
SPECIFICATIONS:
Castle Metals stocks a wide range of Alloy A514 plate (ASTM A514, ASTM A6) distributed globally from our distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, Singapore, and Shanghai. Customers calling for Alloy A514 a lot of times are upset about dealing with fluctuations in their build schedules. Sometimes, we find that custom stocking programs help our customers react faster to changes.
A514 Alloy (ASTM A514, ASTM A6) is a structural/mechanical alloy steel plate with great workability and weldability. To achieve different degrees of strength, A514 alloy plate is quenched and tempered in oil or water. Certain chemical additions improve hardenability, strength, and toughness. Grades H, F, and Q of Alloy A514 steel plate have increased alloying elements that allow for high strength in heavier thickness.

ETD 150
Description
Alloy ETD 150® in bar
SPECIFICATIONS: GRADE ETD 150®
Castle Metals stocks ETD 150 bars through our global distribution network. Our service centers are located in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, France, Singapore, and Shanghai. Customers calling us for ETD 150 a lot of times are struggling with finding commercially available products to meet their specifications. Castle Metals hears these issues often and has resources for thermal and mechanical treatment to deliver customer specific properties.
Alloy ETD 150® is a variation of AISI Alloy 4142 with machining additives and is a registered trademark of Niagara LaSalle Corporation. E.T.D. stands for Elevated Temperature Drawing process. It is drawn at an elevated temperature with a heavy draft to achieve good hardness and strength with a minimum Rockwell ¿C¿ 32. This severe draw eliminates heat treating and secondary operations making ETD 150® a relatively low-cost choice.
