Buying this product in the age-hardened condition also saves the time and additional expense of sending parts out for heat treatment.

Stainless Steel 304 is the most widely used stainless steel grade. It is a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel with relatively low carbon content and somewhat higher chromium and nickel than AISI types 301 and 302. Grade 304 is very ductile when in an annealed condition. It has good elevated temperature properties as well as good toughness at low temperatures. It is well suited for welding and where the finished product must resist the more severe forms of corrosion.

Stainless Steel 304L is a very low carbon austenitic chromium nickel steel with corrosion similar to type 304 but with superior resistance to intergranular carbide precipitation during welding or stress relieving.

Stainless Steel 316 is a higher corrosion resistance than Types 302 and 304 with high creep strength. It has improved high temperature strength over 304 and shows excellent resistance to pitting. Grade 316 is non-magnetic in the annealed condition.

Stainless Steel 316L is an extra-low-carbon modification of Type 316. It has low sensitization properties. Type 316 applications are typically those that require extensive welding.

316 pump shaft quality bar is manufactured with special surface finish, close diameter tolerance, controlled mechanical properties and precision straightness.

Stainless Steel 440C is a high carbon chromium stainless steel. It has great corrosion resistance when hardened. It shows great resistance to wear and abrasion. It is magnetic in all conditions and yields the highest hardnesses of hardenable stainless steels.

NITRONIC 50® Stainless Steel bars offer an excellent combination of high strength and corrosion resistance. This austenitic stainless steel has corrosion resistance better than Type 316 and 317, plus almost twice the yield strength of those grades.

NITRONIC 50® bars in the High Strength condition feature extremely high tensile and yield strength properties. These high mechanical properties are accomplished through cold working at the producing mill.
