Alloy E8740 in bar
SPECIFICATIONS: GRADE ALLOY E8740, AISI E8740, UNS G87400
Castle Metals stocks Alloy 8740 in bar and hexes. Our distribution network includes warehouses in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.K, France, Singapore, and Shanghai. When customers call us about 8740, a lot of times we also hear uncertainty around supporting advanced production systems. When we hear these sorts of things, sometimes it makes sense to talk about value-added processing or even kanban or kitting as ways to simplify your changing production processes.
Alloy E8740 is a triple alloy (Ni-Cr-Mo) produced in Electric Furnaces to Aircraft Quality. When quenched and tempered, it provides good hardenability, and resistance to shock. It is free from temper brittleness. 8740 is similar to alloy 8640 and is commonly used as its replacement for high strength fasteners.
